Summary

Due to technical difficulties there is no audio of today’s sermon. Following is a synopsis of Pastor Jim’s sermon titled “Redemption”:

sermon – Leviticus and John- both dealing with worship and focus and the price of dealing with the sins of the world. In Leviticus the clear direction was given to sacrifice an animal and splatter the blood around the altar. Harsh to read and to visualize. In contrast to that Jesus, in the gospel of John, meets in a simple setting to discuss who is good and Jesus rocks him with the news that he needs to be born again, or born from above or born anew- however it is translated the truth comes through- we can’t stay as we are and be in the presence of God now or forever. The beautiful verse in 3:16 for God so loved the world- the renewal, the rebirth comes with a promise/hope and future that because of God’s love for all that God created, the Son was sent to bring us back and show us the way home. Our worship now- does not need to have animals or their blood splashed on altars or doors- the blood that was shed on the cross- covered all people for all time. The third chapter of John is so rich in images, challenges and promises that we could read it each week and still find some truth to hold on to each time it is read. So whether you were in worship or not- I encourage you to be encouraged today – and read even just what was read yesterday- John 3, verses 1-17 and find that hope of redemption that God offers through Jesus Christ- again.  not sure we can ever hear that enough – for God so loved.   may we do the same.  blessings,  Jim
